Central Kitsap duo voted as Kitsap Sun high school athletes of the week

Central Kitsap's Ava Day and Keegan Bailey are this week's Kitsap Sun athletes of the week as selected by readers in an online poll between March 18-20. Athletes are nominated by their respective high school coaches.

Day, who plays softball for the Cougars, went 4-for-4 with a walk, triple, two home runs, three RBI and five runs in Central Kitsap's 15-10 win over Bainbridge. She led all vote-getters with 525 votes. Other girl nominees were Olympic softball player Evee Abbay, North Kitsap softball player Cerenity Fake, North Mason track and field athlete Adrianna Tupolo, Kingston softball player Aadie Goller and South Kitsap softball player Kamdyn Hagerty.

Bailey, who plays boys soccer for the Cougars, scored two goals in Central Kitsap's season-opening 3-1 win against Peninsula. He collected 288 votes to lead all boys. Other nominees were North Mason track and field athlete Alex Rank, Klahowya boys soccer player Oliver Peterson and Bainbridge boys golfer Dane Byers.
